Golem cabbage stew

Ingredients

  • 1 small head green cabbage
  • 1/4 lb bacon
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1 large carrot
  • 2 medium yellow potatoes
  • 1 tbsp neutral flavoured oil
  • 4-6 cups vegetable stock
  • Bay leaf

Steps

  1. Decore the cabbage. Cut each cabbage half into quarters.
  2. Cut the carrot into 1/2 inch coins.
  3. Cut the potatoes into large chunks.
  4. Dice the bacon.
  5. In a large pot on medium heat, heat 1 tbsp neutral flavoured oil. Once heated, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the heat but keep the fat.
  6. Add onion and cook until translucent.
  7. Add carrot and cook till softened.
  8. Add potatoes and cook for a few minutes.
  9. Add cabbage leaves and cook till wilted.
  10. Add the vegetable stock and bay leaf. Bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot with a lid, and cook for 15 minutes.

Turnip salad

I found Senshi’s recipe nasty and don’t recommend making it yourself without modifications

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 1 small turnip or parsnip
  • 1 small carrot with greens
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Steps

  1. Cut turnip into thinly-sliced medallions.
  2. Remove the greens from the carrot. Wash that well.
  3. Cut carrot into very fine matchsticks.
  4. Toss turnip, carrrot, olive oil, and salt in a small bowl.
